Re: (OT)more than 2 ide devices ?

Here is a digest of the two answers I receive...

First answer :
Not on a G3 with Rev. A ROMS...
whereby no Slave Drives are supported.

Second answer:
I don't see why not, as long as you have a PCI bus.
You should be able to handle at least 10 drives, if not 14.
Don't overload the power supply. (either 5v or 12v lines)

Extremely desapointing don't you know ?

My installation is :
ide0--------- 20Go disk ---- /dev/hda
     \-------- cdrom ---- /dev/hdb
ide1-------- 4Go disk ---- non recognized...

When it was one disk on each ide both were recognized.

Here is the specs sheet for my box.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=43124

Then I was on apple discussion board and BIG SH**
the answer 1 was good:-(

and :

"If you truly have a RevA G3 then you face a significant issue...the
RevA ROM does not support master-slave setups."you want a two hdds you
can: a) get a ROM revB or C;
b) get an IDE host interface/controller card for your PCI slots and then
you can hook up a bunch od hdds; c) toss the cdrom and stick a hdd in
it's place; d) use the SCSI interface for a SCSI hdd and
e) go external with a Firewire or SCSI hdd... "

humour... no ?

Thanks a lot
