hello, i'm at a loss now. i've looked all over for info. on setting up my old printer - a deskwriter - and i've found a few things, but none of it very helpful (google'ing).... i've also gone to lok around at linuxprinting.org, and they don't have a driver for deskwriter, only deskjets - deskjets IIRC use PS, and the printer i have is just a serial printer. i've also tried playing around with the serial ports settings, and still no output, not even garbage. has anyone (past or present) succeeded in getting this printer to function like it would in mac os (or sometimes happens, better)? if so, how? and for this i will need to be "held by the hand" so to speak, cuz serial ports stuff you might as well be speaking russian to me. i'll give a look (again) at the hp website, but i don't think i'll find anything :|. simon
