which raises another question, since macosx leeches GNU energies by flooding
free sw related mailing lists with "xxx doesn't compile on osx" messages, I
wonder how hard it would be to have an osx compatibility layer similar to
[lib]wine or bsd<-on->linux for the proprietary stuff only available for osx.
