Check out www.debian.org/ports/powerpc/keycodes.

To use the previous kernel, assuming you kept it around, you can pass its
file location to yaboot manually as covered in the yaboot HOWTO. Another 
option, if you have an installer disk laying around, is to boot with it 
and rework your yaboot.conf.
