I have NFS and SMB shares on my network for accessing things like my
mp3
FYI, since no-one seems to have mentioned it, Mac OS X supports NFS,
once you have worked out how to set it up. That might fit with your
existing set-up, assuming you don't
Select the finder,
Go-->Connect to Server
Click on Appletalk
type into address:
smb://<domain or workgroup>;<username>@<smb hostname>/<share name>
Caveat: no spaces are allowed in this syntax, which windows does allow.
I'd imagine
that there's a way to escape the spaces, but for now, I 've worked
around a username
with spaces by putting in the wrong user name, then correcting it on the
subsequent dialog.
That said,apt-get netatalk anyway, mount the windows box from your linux
box, and fly on.
