Just like any other USB mouse that's supported by the kernel: yes.

Device /dev/input/mice, -t imps2 is what I'd try.

Read the many, many threads about mouse button emulation with the new
input layer.

I don't think gpm interferes with X concurrently opening /dev/input/mice.
The mouse type for X might be IMPS/2 or PS/2.
