Changing the console rows/columns

Can I change the number of rows and columns in the *console* of a
Power Macintosh 7200/90 running Debian 2.2 (kernel 2.2.19, recompiled
to remove stuff not needed by my poor little box)? "apropos console"
returns a tantalizing list of manpages for commands like resizecons,
which is nowhere on my system, and I can't tell which (if any)
package I need to install to get them. Various Google searches have
failed to turn up any information, either.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
