The one in /bin was an old one, so I showed it the door. So it is now using
/usr/bin/X11/startx, but still get the same errors.
The output of ls -l is this:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 3090 Oct 5 07:02 /usr/bin/X11/startx
