its ok for locating a package quickly, but its not much fun for
installing a large blob of packages like gnome.

there are several, none as mature as dselect, aptitude, console-apt
etc.

as i said i don't think the new task system is in place quite yet.
but make sure the tasksel package is up to date before trying.
