You can move the pointer with the keyboard under XFree86. Press
shift+numlock, then use the numeric keypad. Hold shift to go faster. you
can click and drag with 5 and 0. RTFM, it's in there somewhere :->

FAQ: how do I set up X for the mouse.
answer: device = /dev/input/mice, protocol = "ImPS/2"
for GPM, use the same device, protocol = "ps2".
