my problem was not getting it installed, it already was, my problem is
it cannot be updated since it needs newer groff, i never use dselect
so that was not an issue, but for those who do they would likely get a
screwed system again.

i just tried apt-get source slocate groff and running
dpkg-buildpackage on those and both built perfectly and installed
perfectly.  what I would like to know is what is causeing powerpc
packages to get left behind like this when it seems there is no
techical reason preventing there build... is it a lack of ppc machines
to do the builds on?
