[OT] Comments?

http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/news/msnw/LinuxMyths.asp

A friend of mine sent me this link. It's a rather interesting read.

It's obviously a little old, as it deals with NT4, Linux 2.2 and was
posted back on October 4, 1999...but it's still fairly relevant.

So, my question - how many of the "problems" have been fixed since the
writing of this article? Has SMP been improved? Maximum RAM and swap?

This is probably waaay off topic for this list, but it's the only Debian
one I'm currenly subscribed to, and I'd like to see the answers.

Now, please...don't flame me, and don't rant about how good Linux is.
You're preaching to the choir here...I prefer Linux over NT4 any
day...but I'm looking at more of a rebuttle for the article. So if you
have benchmark scores, whatever, lets see them.

I can understand the "Linux is not ready for the desktop" comment. I
agree totally...for example: there is no way in hell I'd give a Linux
system to my parents, because they couldn't deal with it.

Anywho...I've posed the question. If you think this should be directed
at any other list, please do so, or let me know which ones would be
good.

Thanks!
