bug in emacs, su

I'm new do debian so I'm not sure of the propper way to report bugs...

I've noticed a bug in emacs that also exists in the dev rel 1.0 of linux/ppc, so perhaps it's glibc2.1 related?

if you exit without opening a file buffer (either by specifying a filename on the command line, or with C-x C-f) it segfaults:
"Fatal error (11).Segmentation fault"

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Also, after doing an apt-get upgrade this morning, I can no longer su to root. (or anyone else for that matter). libpam was updated this morning...other than that, I didn't see any authentication related packages.

One last thing, I'm not very familiar with dselect yet, so I'm getting stuck with some dependency problems that I can't seem to make go away.

Ah...ok, so it looks like emacs20-el depends on 20.3-8, but only 20.3-7 is available...

I know this is the unstable dist, but what is normally done about this kind of situation?

Thanks,
Josh
