I switched the machine I'm working on for a friend over from RedHat
without too much difficulty once it was pointed out that I needed a
different kernel.  Though I didn't really do it "in-place" since I
cannibalized an existing swap partition.

Apt is in main now.  Are there known problems?  It would definitely be
nice to have my friend start with apt rather than the older methods.
