If you have a linux installed, it should not be that difficult. But there
are no bootdisks (yet).

Debian uses its own excellent package format, .deb. You manage packages
with dpkg, the package admin utility, and lately, apt, a nice "frontend"
that makes your life easier.
A lot of packages are ported for ppc, have a look at the nearest Debian
ftp mirror.
