mac serial port settings in linux

hi-

this might be a really dumb question... but: is there any easy way to set my
serial ports to a given speed, parity, ect - and have those changes stay?

i have searched around the net a little bit, but i find conflicting reports
on how it is actually done.

some ideas were with setserial and stty

ideas?
