Just wanted to mention that your wording in

is atleast in my interpretation a bit misleading....

Actually status is brand new addition to policy. It wasn't documented at
all before, while being required in LSB.

As mentioned already the reason for "recommended" rather than required
is to not instantly create many RC bugs. (And reason for not making
it optional is because it's required in LSB and we probably want to
move in that direction.)

Not sure if it makes much difference, but I just thought I'd mention it.

btw, release early release often! Many good changes pending in git now.... ;)
