Bug#774846: developers-reference: please document how to upload to stable/stable-proposed-updates

Package: developers-reference
Version: 3.4.12
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

as part of my NM process I was asked how to upload to
stable/stable-proposed-updates. I noticed that the dev ref does not say
explicitly how to do such uploads and whether or not there is a
difference between functionality bug fixing stable uploads or security
related uploads.

Specifically it would be appreciated to explicitly spell out the
involved commands to do an upload for these scenarios. Like:

dput security-master package.deb

Secondly, it might be worthwhile to note how the distribution value in
d/changelog influences the destination of the upload. If my reading of
the docs is correct, then the following should be able to do an upload
to stable, given the right distribution in d/changelog:

dput ftp-master package.deb

But I think it ought to be easier to find that information, for example
by putting it in the dev ref.

Thirdly and lastly, I was not able to find out what to do if my upload
did not succeed and was only told by my AM that there are .commands
files which I can upload. Specifically, it would be nice if the dev ref
somewhere was linking to
ftp://ftp-master.debian.org/pub/UploadQueue/README somewhere or explain
its content.

Thanks!

cheers, josch
