When would autodetection fail in that direction?  That's not the worrisome
issue for autodetection; the worrisome issue with autodetection is if it
thinks the rule is available but it actually isn't.

Rather than adding a build feature, I think package maintainers for whom
autodetection fails should just fix the issue that causes it to fail.
