Hi,

I'm reluctant to apply this patch.

While the change you are proposing makes perfect sense, the numbering
scheme described in this part of dev-ref (+deb50u1 etc) was only rarely
used in Debian, and the current practice is still to use a 'squeeze1'
suffix. The Developers Reference should probably document that instead.
