A peripheral point (already addressed earlier in this thread): It's
still ambiguous in that it doesn't specify in which direction the
rounding should occur.

It's true that it is not ambiguous about the unit size.

I doubt this (both the “binary unit prefixes will die” and the “as it
should be”.) It's the right tool for the job, in my view, and neither
will die nor should. The *names* might remain unpopular, but the units
will continue to be relevant.

+1 to this, with the clarification on which direction rounding to whole
numbers will occur.
