Only if everything else is equal.  Which it clearly isn't.

The recommended practice *is* to build on sid.  It is not even to build on
testing, let alone on stable.  Whether building on woody is a bug or not,
well, that's what this thread is about apparently...

Not that this is a permanent bother.  When sarge releases, sooner or later
either a security fix or an upload to sid built on sarge (heh) will fix the
problem.

Sure.  How many packages on sid are built on woody, other than extremely old
ones (that could do with a standards-version check and update anyway, so
let's root them out!  Bitrot is a real problem, and we know it), and yours?

This is the first time I ever heard of anyone building sid packages on
stable, so I'd guess that's not a very common practice...  But if I am
wrong, please tell me so.
