Package: debian-policy Version: 3.6.2.1 Severity: normal 3.9 does not describe the current tasksel/tasks situation very well. You should not tag any packages as belonging to a task before this has been discussed on the _debian-devel_ mailing list and a consensus about doing that has been reached. Actually developers should never add Task fields; they are added via overrivdes that are taken from tasksel's lists of tasks. The contents of tasksel's tasks are determined by the various maintainers of those tasks. For third parties (and historical reasons), tasksel also supports constructing tasks based on _task packages_. These are packages whose names begin with _task-_. Task packages should not be included in the Debian archive. Tasksel has not supported task packages since sarge's release, although it does provide other useful ways for third parties to define tasks without using the Task fields. -- see shy jo
