Package: debian-policy
Version: 3.6.1.1
Severity: important

I just stumbled over /media when upgrading discover1 (on a sarge system).
The debconf dialog says "the standard says", but the Debian standard is
policy, so this seems to be wrong.

Just out of consistency, policy should (finally!) move to FHS 2.3.

What's need to get whoever-can-do-it to do the change?

Sarge systems come with /srv, which isn't in policy either.

Give us consistency, *please*!

Bye, J

PS: Feel free to merge with 212434 and 230217, but *do* it!

Policy is not exhaustive; there are a whole host of things
that are standard, implemented in Debian, and not in policy. This is
as it should be. This is not a bug.

> Just out of consistency, policy should (finally!) move to FHS 2.3.

This is under discussion. There a re a number of things in FHS
2.3 that may or may not be ratified fully by Debian.

> What's need to get whoever-can-do-it to do the change?

Not waste time by using the BTS to rant?

> Sarge systems come with /srv, which isn't in policy either.

And this is not a bug either.
