Bug#18482: This is not a policy issue

Hi,

As far as I can tell, policy says nothing about the filename
of the resulting deb -- and this is not something that policy should
be doing, anyway. The long standing current practice is to not have
epochs in files names. If you want to see this changed, get dpkg
 changed, and change existing practice.

At this point, the argument that this makes life unnecessarily
hard for scripts does not hold much weight, since scripts have been
coping with this for most of the life of Debian.

	I am closing this report.
