I think calling that a feature is a bit of a stretch.

If it doesn't guarantee that you can rely on a POSIX-conformant "test",
I don't see how it guarantees anything at all about "test".

I don't think that "built-in-ness" is any concern of #!/bin/sh scripts,
and I don't think that it should be any more than it knows whether
its commands are shell functions or aliases.
