apparently what lintian does is valid, ldconfig use outside $1=configure is not documented as safe
reassign 120585 debian-policy
thanks
Hi,
The Policy says that "the `postinst' script may optionally invoke `ldconfig'
at other times". According to the explanation in the footnote number 3,
there doesn't appear to be any other time (other than when $1 = configure)
to do it.
So... please either provide a rationale for this optional invocation, in
which case the lintian warning postinst-unsafe-ldconfig stays just a
warning, or remove the clause, in which case the lintian warning gets
upgraded to an error (yeah, right, in an ideal world where we could
reliably parse the maintainer scripts).
Or am I missing something?
