Bug#140757: debian-policy: init.d script shouldn't be executable by non-root
Johan Walles <d92-jwa@nada.kth.se> cum veritate scripsit:
> When my neophyte girlfriend tries to do "/etc/init.d/gdm stop" as
> non-root it does run, but says (erroneously):
>
> Stopping GNOME Display Manager: gdm not running.
This is just an error in detecting an error, isn't it?
This is not really about "who has the permission to run the script".
"Handle errors properly" is a policy, which is (probably) a widely
accepted unwritten rule.
