A possibly better way of doing this would be to have:
'required': things which *must* be on every system for it to work
'standard': things that will be on every system, except *very*
specialised ones
'common': everything that might reasonably appear in an "ff the
shelf" install (ie, the contents of all task- packages)
'optional': everything else that doesn't conflict with anything above
'extra': anything rare, or conflicting with optional or higher packages
which would move huge numbers of things out of standard (emacs and tetex,
for instance) and would get rid of the important priority, and add some
new priority. It wouldn't need dselect changed to not auto-select standard
packages though.
