date The date of the last revision--remember to
change this every time a change is made to
the man page, since this is the most gen
eral way of doing version control.
In other words: The manpage should contain the date it was written on. The
user can see if the manpage is still uptodate. And even old manpages are often
useful to get the basic goal and invocation of a program.
