Depends on what you consider to be the bug. I personally use
emacs as my editor (and I use fvwm, not gnome or kde), and I do not
want some gnome or kde app I happen to use changing my default editor
out from under me.
If the user has specifically stated a preference for an
editor, that should be honoured.
