I like evolution as a calendar and contact manager.  It also has a
(still a bit buggy I believe, but mostly useable) pilot interface.

Also there are a couple of grab news and download them to your palm
programs that are OK.  Last one I used was sitegrabber iirc.  When I
had extra time at places it was nice to have some info to read, but I
don't have much random empty time so I haven't used any in a bit.

For palm software I suggest:
Mapopolis: (obvious website) map program
Checklist Light

Of the 20 or so thirdparty apps I have on my palm those are the two I
use most.
