The O'Reilly book is good - but you *definitely* want to use the Debian packages rather than what is on the CD. There are several programs on the net that are built purely with gcc; httpd and Tipsy come immediately to mind, though there's also an "app skeleton" which will set up a dummy app which is a good starting point... _Mark_ <eichin@thok.org> The Herd Of Kittens
