Not sure which log you are referring to with "latest test log" as I
see the failure in all of them I found at ci.d.n. - Please note that
you are quoting only the last of the three test sections
(autodep8-perl-recommends), and the failure in the smoke test happens
in autodep8-perl-build-deps.
Anyway, looking at https://salsa.debian.org/med-team/gbrowse/blob/master/t/01.yeast.t#L26
my guess is that the tests need the sample_data directory; which is
there during build but not by default during autopkgtests because
there only t/ is copied to a new temporary directory.
What I would try (can't test right now) is:
- mkdir -p debian/tests/pkg-perl
- $EDITOR debian/tests/pkg-perl/smoke-files with:
t/
sample_data/
(Cf. https://perl-team.pages.debian.net/autopkgtest.html#smoke )
