Hi and welcome back! Nice to see you active again.

Just one quick note for now (but this should answer some of your
questions "automatically"):

The package is not in jessie, it was removed back in July for some RC
bug and therefore has no chance of getting in again.

So feel free to do everything in master (and maybe the new 0.56 (?)
update release would finally fix the build failure RC bug on some
architecture).
