Hello Ondrej,
I try to make this short, but might fail. Part of the
reason might be English, which is not my first language.
I am the current maintainer, which might or might not count
very much right now because of my inactivity. I'd like to
comment anyway, for what it is worth.

I am pleased to hear this. I would have been even more pleased to do
this by myself, but time constraints with both job and family would
allow this Juli at the earliest, and with mid/end of August being the
first realistic opportunity.

I would agree. The rules have been crafted a very long time ago,
Debhelper has changed a lot since. The only thing I remember without
looking at the sources right now are problems with regard to the
online tests done by "make test".
Having said all the above about inactivity, I do not feel myself
very much in the position to demand anything - but I would very
much like to be left involved into libnet-dns-perl anyway. I still
do feel associated to this package and would like to either keep
being an uploader of this package and/or the primary contact person
for it or to become this again later.
For the immediate actions I can promise to be very responsive, to
be cooperative and assist and provide any data you need. As written
above, I cannot invest much time within the next weeks.
I will send another reply to Ondrej and debian-perl list about more
concrete plans and your opinions about my work part here.
Best regards
Florian
