Never mind (bad example) ... I have: /etc/ssh/ssh_known_hosts and the
host name in question was in there. Nonetheless, ssh-keygen told me it
had removed the key and it had not.
I do remember some problems with the -R option -- I don't think it
always removes multiple copies of a key. I'll have to do all the
experiments again ... sigh.
