Yes. Dropping binary-indep from .PHONY: makes the build to fail with make: *** No rule to make target `binary-indep', needed by `binary'. Stop. I'd say just use the three-liner debian/rules and elliminate all the confusion. :) (although the build target currently fails because of #528652) -- dam
