If I'm not mistaken your problem was that you didn't change
debian/compat from 5 to 7.
(If I revert your last commit locally to get debian/rules back to the
dh7 version, then run debuild, and then "fakeroot debian/rules
clean", the stamp-files are left like in your log. If I change
debian/compat they get removed in the clean target.)
