I just installed the latest awstats (6.1-1 ) to check this out since it seems
a crazy mistake for a perlmonger to make (unless this was some perl4 feature
that's before my time!)...

perl -c /usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl
/usr/lib/cgi-bin/awstats.pl syntax OK

...awstats.pl was installed in /usr/lib/cgi-bin and seems fine at first glance
- no erroneous "my" statements that I could find

Is the awstats that you have in /var/www/cgi-bin the latest one from sarge?

Regards,
Michael.
