I did read the entire message.  I'm suggesting that the error you
experienced could be directly attributable to your not having an
up-to-date OpenSSL installation.  If your system doesn't meet the
minimum requirements of the software you're trying to install, how can
you know what the source of the problem is?

Your original message puts further impediments in my ability to help
you by not mentioning which perl module you're attempting to build.  A
rough guess is Net::SSLeay, which I happen to maintain for Debian, or
the Crypt-SSLeay package.  WIthout additional information, however,
I'm at a loss as to how anyone can provide you assistance.

If you expect others to help you, you have to provide them with
sufficient information to make it possible for them to do so.
