Hi,

I would like to work with Debian org, for outreachy 2018 (Winter). Kindly let me know where to start looking for the projects

Hi Sushma,
You can see the status of Debian Outreachy projects  here : [1]
and how to begin to get selected? (I'm ready for taking up the work) :)

Y
ou can also scan past Debian projects under Outreachy and see which one interests you. Try building that project and discuss what problems you encounter.

I have previously worked on Free - RTC project-- Lumicall and would be able to help if you encounter any issues.

Y
ou can also try to install Debian ( in case you dont use Debian ) maybe dual boot or setting up a virtual box. This would help you be in a strong position to complete the test activites which you'll be given later for Outreachy under Debian :)

Hi all,

Has Debian applied to participate in Outreachy again?

At the end of September/early October I'll be visiting Albania and
Kosovo again.  There there are several potential candidates for
Outreachy and also GSoC 2018.  If other mentors have their projects up
on the wiki and candidates I meet personally want to discuss them I'll
be happy to get them started, introduce them to other mentors, etc.

Regards,

Daniel

internships

Greetings,

The next round for Outreachy, which is a three-month paid internship
program for people traditionally underrepresented in tech, will soon open!

If you're interested in applying as an Outreachy intern, hang on for a
bit! We'll announce when the application period opens in a separate email.

If you're interested in mentoring or being an Outreachy community
coordinator, read on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear coordinators and mentors,

Thank you for being a part of our internship program! Our timeline for
the next round is:

  * September 7 - application period opens
  * October 23 - contributions and applications are due
  * November 9 - interns announced
  * December 5, 2017 to March 5, 2018 - internship period.

If your organization is interested in participating in the next round,
*please let us know by September 4 if you will participate.*

    New website

We are shifting to a set of new Outreachy resources this round:

  * The newly redesigned website <https://www.outreachy.org> for the
    program. The Outreachy pages on the GNOME wiki will soon be
    redirected here.
  * organizers@outreachy.org <mailto:organizers@outreachy.org> - This is
    the new email address for Outreachy organizers (Cindy, Tony, Sarah,
    Marina, and Karen)
  * announce@lists.outreachy.org <mailto:announce@lists.outreachy.org> -
    This is the new Outreachy public announcements mailing list
    <https://lists.outreachy.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/announce>
  * mentors@lists.outreachy.org <mailto:mentors@lists.outreachy.org> -
    This is a private list for Outreachy coordinators and mentors
    <https://lists.outreachy.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mentor> who
    want to participate in the program

Our goal with the new website is to allow coordinators and mentors to
add their community landing pages and projects pages directly to the
Outreachy website. This allows us to add useful features in the future,
like allowing applicants to search for projects with a particular
programming language or skill. The information listed on the community
landing pages will be the same as what we recommended in the past. We
encourage organizers and mentors to update their current landing page,
so that the information is ready when we have the new website features
in place.

    Resources for Coordinators and Mentors

If you are participating as an Outreachy community for the first time,
you'll need to:

  * Review the community participation guidelines
    <https://www.outreachy.org/mentor>
  * Apply as a community <https://www.outreachy.org/mentor/community-faq/>
  * Make sure other mentors understand the mentor requirements
    <https://www.outreachy.org/mentor/mentor-faq/>, especially the
    5-hour weekly time commitment requirement and the requirement to
    sign the mentor agreement

If you've participated as an coordinator or mentor in the past, please:

  * Secure funding <https://www.outreachy.org/sponsor/> for your
    community to sponsor at least one intern ($6,500)
  * Update your community's landing page according to the guidelines
    <https://www.outreachy.org/mentor/landing-page-requirements/>
  * Come up with your project ideas and recruit other mentors
  * Make sure other mentors understand the mentor requirements
    <https://www.outreachy.org/mentor/mentor-faq/>, especially the
    5-hour weekly time commitment requirement and the requirement to
    sign the mentor agreement
  * Let us know by emailing organizers@outreachy.org
    <mailto:organizers@outreachy.org> that your community is
    participating by September 4

We plan on having a twitter chat about Outreachy on September 25 at 4pm
UTC / 11am EST, to spotlight the communities that are participating.
Participation in the chat is optional, but many of our participants find
out about the program through Twitter.

Please contact Karen, Marina, Tony, Cindy, and myself at
organizers@outreachy.org <mailto:organizers@outreachy.org> if you have
any questions. We hope you can join us for this round!

Thanks,
Sarah Sharp
