Bug#951060: libreoffice-writer: Please make the package modify the user config while settings if a setting is deprecated

No, they didn't? I have it here.

Maybe you somehow forced the desktop/VCLPlug to gtk2 (which indeed got
removed upstream)?

If you did so in the dialog that is and was always bad. There's envvars
and desktop detection and even in buster one should have used gtk3 (yes,
I know xfce uses gtk2 in buster....) :-)
