So it seems, I've opened a bug upstream to ask for a new release, let's
see what happens.

Indeed some of those clean ups are useful, and there are also a couple
of pure bugfixes in it.
I mean, I could loop and take in all the patches, or just a single big
diff since the last release, but it would be a bit silly, let's see what
upstream thinks (if they'll answer).

I'm closing this bug as wontfix for now, unless you think there is a
particular change that deserves to be cherry-picked.
