uname -a shows the kernel. You can run a amd64 kernel and a i386 userland, too.

See the i386 here? Maybe it picks up the wrong JRE? Note that LO doesn't use the
"java" executable. What does javaldx (or the Options -> Advanced dialog) say?
The bt you posted yourself clearly says you use i386 Java. To recap:

Still, DO NOT ANSWER TO THIS BUG. This bug is about a "X Error" related "crash" (well,
failure to start) where your problem is CLEARLY different.
