That is interesting.

Do you have a strace (note you need to use -f/-ff if you strace lowriter
and/or soffice or somesuch) or a gdb backtrace?

And which desktop/window manager is this? A GTk(2) using one?
After removing -gtk2 do you have -gtk3 installed? Or "pure" LO UI?

That said, works for me.

Even with

rene@frodo:~$ export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN="gtk"
rene@frodo:~$ lowriter 

which forces gtk2. "Of course" I am still in my GNOME(3) environment on my
amd64 laptop, but LO definitely picked up gtk2.
