Package: openoffice.org-writer
Version: 1:2.3.1-5
Severity: important

Every time I try in a fresh OpenOffice.org-writer session to open a multipage document, after a brief (probably ~1/2 second) flash of display of page 1 of the document, I get told that "Due to an unexpected error,
OpenOffice.org has crashed," etc., culminating in the message about reconstituting the document next time I start OpenOffice.org. There is never a problem about reconstituting the document, no matter how big, long,
or complex it may be -- IOW, it always succeeds in reconstituting the document and reopening it for any amount of editing work. Unfortunately, openoffice.org-dbg never reports anything in connection with this crash.

I have identified a work-around for this problem: all I need to do is open, say, a spreadsheet, and then close it without closing OpenOffice.org. This apparently "teaches" the system to handle the bigger documents
in openoffice.org-writer. At any rate, once I have done that, then openoffice.org-writer handles any file quite nicely.

It was dismaying to me when the present version of OpenOffice.org showed up in Lenny, because I had already noted the problem in Sid. I then backed up one version by means of locking Sid out of my system, which
cured the problem until the new version was ported to Testing.

I have provided a test file which consistently behaves in this fashion at "http://www.wg32.net/Temple Teachings Book 1 Test without gfx.odt". That's a 2-page document which consistently makes my system crash. Thank
you very much!!
