I can't reproduce this bug with a more recent version of libreoffice (from experimental). I guess it's related to this feature in 4.0:

Then the loading process starts, lasts a couple of seconds, one sees the progress bar, but, finally, no libreoffice windows opens. On the terminal, nothing is printed. The exit status is 139 (printed by "echo $?").
