Then it's probably not a writer bug but a general LO bug..

Which extensions do you have installed?

SO at least otero. From the package or done yourself (there's no need to.)

(And no, you should not need to check for updates. Get them via the package
system.

Extensions from somewhere(tm) can definitely be badly behaving at times and
making LO crashy..)
