Bug#618418: openoffice.org: Digital Signatures does not find Icedove certificates

After installing an e-mail certificate into Thunderbird on other Linux systems
(using a certificate and instructions from
http://www.comodo.com/support/products/email_certs in my case), I can normally
use that certificate within OpenOffice. File/Digital Signatures, click on
"Add", and the certificate appears. Using Icedove under Squeeze, the same
sharing doesn't seem to work.
Based on seeing this feature come and go on other Linux distributions, i.e.
http://openoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=56169 , I suspected that setting
MOZILLA_CERTIFICATE_FOLDER might correct this. The following worked:
$ ls -d .icedove/*.default
..icedove/75mr095p.default
$ export MOZILLA_CERTIFICATE_FOLDER="$HOME/.icedove/75mr095p.default/"
$ openoffice.org &
So there's nothing wrong with my certificate or either program, OOO just isn't
finding the certificate directory by default.
This has worked for me in upstream OOO since version 3.1 under Ubuntu; I don't
see any reason why it shouldn't work on Debian, too. Perhaps something related
to the Debian rebranding of Icedove might have broken it? Just speculation
based on the one thing I know is different here, I don't actually know exactly
how this integration happens in other distributions.
